mklix update for January

Month January was, as usual, hectic at mobile-worx. The engineering was busy writing, rebuilding the next gen mklix. The design guys were seen scratching their heads on deciding the best look& feel for the site. The product management/marketing team was deeply involved in brainstorming with the engineering team to zero in on the best features to be implemented in the new version. One always found Asif Ali (CTO) and Terry Uppal (President) hunched over their laptops inside the conference room discussing ideas on how and where to lead the company and what markets to tap.

January was also the month punctuated with attending conferences to represent mobile-worx and let people know what we are doing. And so, Asif Ali was there at the proto.in , Chennai event while Sri Vikas, Product Specialist represented mobile-worx at the Headstart.in , Bangalore.

Proto.in:

Proto.in is an amazing event for promising startup talent to communicate their creativity and their innovative ideas. It is one of those unique events for entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and professionals to meet up to share/discuss ideas on technology and current trends in the market.

Headstart.in:

Headstart is an event where the most exciting products and technology in India are showcased. Headstart, co featuring Compute 2008 covers the entire innovation lifecycle in one place. Being conducted at the Jawahar lal Nehru stadium of IISc Bangalore meant the participation of people from academicians, researchers, entrepreneurs, marketers, large companies, venture capitalists and customers, which we believe is essential to accelerate the pace of innovation in India.It is an ideal place for technology developers and VC’s to come together and bring bright ideas to life

Participating at these conferences was an eye-opener for us. But what wowed us was the entrepreneurship spirit brewing up in India. We are so glad to see young starry eyed entrepreneurs who have nothing but deep passion for what they do and the belief in the emerging India.

We salute the Indian entrepreneurship spirit!

Mobile-worx at the Proto.in and Headstart events – lets meet up!

new mklix launch in feb

Many of you have been asking about the status of mKlix.com …well, after MANY months, a VERY challenging process and a LOT of money expended we’ll be launching in Feb.

 
You can check us out online on on your mobile and even join here: www.mklix.com or mklix.com/wap. Membership is free.  

 We’ve done a soft (unannounced) launch of mKlix website. Once we finalize a few more, add new features and give mklix a new look , we will have a  big marketing launch (so don’t totally judge us by what you see). We also have several significant additions/updates to do and we also have tons of new and user generated content to load…so stay tuned!

 
The great news is that even with the long delay, interest in our organization is still unbelievably high!  About 300 registrations a day !!!!!!  without marketing….people find us.  India’s leading mobile social networking site where mobile content if FREE ….

 To give you a feel for some of the things we are planning to do a  “Cheers n’ Beers” event for mKlix Publishers and Advertisers  in Chennai followed by Bombay (Mumbai).

Moving to new and bigger office

We are growing and as we began to expand our teams we realized that we need a new office and finally we were able to move to our new office in the heart of Chennai (Chetpet)…. Right across Ega Theatre (by the way we all went to watch “Tara Zameen Par”). We went through all the stress of finding a new office space…..I guess now I have realized that how fast Chennai is growing when negotiating for space, looking for the right place/contractor, renovation to actual moving of furniture. Anyways now we have a new office…..really cool and we still need to fill cubicles and are looking for sales managers from Advertising industry, creative folks, web designer and programmers…… (Referrals are welcome)

All quiet in the Mklix front:

If you are wondering why we haven’t been updating you on what is happening in Mklix, then blame it on intense discussions, product development, and lots of strategic planning.

In one of our previous posts, Mklix has ambassadors across India; we had mentioned that the technical team with product team is working to introduce a new version of Mklix. Let me tell you that the work is in progress and is on schedule.

Here is what we have been doing:

• We have been collecting product feedbacks from our customers. The product team collects these feedbacks, scrutinizes it, give shape to the ideas (in the business jargon we call it Marketing requirement definitions, MRD’s, just in case you are interested in what they are called…) and then we give it to the technical team to set it up.

• We have been adding lots of extra features to the existing Mklix.com site which will help the user to understand Mklix better.

But then, we haven’t been all that silent! We were recently featured in livemint.com, the financial online news portal of Wall Street Journal.

you can now invite friends to mklix

Mklix has recently added a new feature: Invite Friend which can be accessed at the top right corner of the home page, once you log into your profile. Invite friend option lets you, as the name suggest, invite (import as other social networks calls it) your friends from your Google and Yahoo address book.

Invite friend lets you send email invitations to your friends asking them to join mklix by directly entering their email id. You also have an option to access your Google/Yahoo id and directly invite them from the address book.

Simple idea: you reduce the time you take to type out their email id manually and instead go to your address book and select your friends to be part of mklix.com

Very soon you can even personalize the email invitation you send your friends.

We hope this additional feature will help you in reaching out to your friends and connect with them anytime anywhere from your mobile phone.

We would love to hear from you on what you think about this new feature. You can either rave or rant and we will mold mklix according to your requirements.

mklix has ambassadors across India

It s been nearly 10 days since we had launched mklix in it alpha state and what a resounding success we have had? All thanks goes to our mklix ambassadors!

Our ambassadors have been talking about our product to their friends and relatives, collecting feedbacks (both positive and negative) and giving us all sorts of ideas to improve our site and the services we are offering. Some wanted our site UI to be improved, some “wowed” at the fact that we can give premium mobile content for free and others wanted to know our future plans for mklix.

Mklix as a mobile social networking utility is a new concept in India. The driving philosophy behind this project is to take the whole human relationship networking from the web portals to the mobile phones. We are aiming at bringing people closer to each other by making them connect with their friends anytime on the move.

Right now, we are working hard to introduce an all new UI for mklix. We are also trying to spruce up the help section so that the user won’t have any problems in understanding and using the mklix features. And speaking of features, there is a separate team put in place to tweak the performance of all the SMS and downloading services. The idea is to make the end user feel really great after using mklix.

While we are doing that, we are also asking for more feedbacks. You see, the thirst for constant improvement is never ending. Taking a leaf out the Japanese philosophy of kaizen, which means a constant and never ending improvement in life and our work, we are incorporating a work culture where we are committed to improve mklix on an everyday basis. Any changes we make is always aimed at giving the user a world class experience.

mklix is here!

mklix.com recently went live (early Alpha release – though its called a beta release to make things simpler) a few days back and we’ve been having a decent start. With a little over a 1000 page views everyday and about a 1000 users registered, its a great start and we hope to increase that momentum along the line.

So what is mklix?. A cool new mobile community portal that provides a variety of mobile services, free aiming to enhance your mobile lifestyle. These services are completely supported by mobile advertising.

Here’ are some of the the features of mklix

• First service in India to offer completely FREE – mobile applications, mobile games, themes, videos, ringtones and wallpapers.
• Free SMS Service, across India (and soon across key countries in Asia).

As you all know, we’re very early, so the number of features, their capabilities are all very limited. We have been dreaming of new features and working hard on it. You will see them coming along in the next several months.
